• Friday workshop is now open, cost is $125. You be instructed by Ted on forging atraditional Indonesian knife. Link here

Demonstrations to include forging a planishing hammer and dishing project with Ted Banning. Red and Jacob Selmer will demonstrate at the same time in glass and metal.  Jacob will discuss planning a complex project, and forge a tree of life in steel.  There will be branches for each of the 4 seasons.  Red will demonstrate hot glass working in the torch to create seasonal details.  Come see the mixed media display come together, watch a wide variety of techniques, and learn about hot glass working.

• Ferriers will be here this year!

• Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

• Limited on-site camping available Friday and Saturday night; no hookups, no showers.

• No pets are allowed

• Tailgating (Blacksmith Flea market) for registered guests all weekend.

  • For the Friday workshop, Mr Banning will be teaching a traditional Indonesian knife with a human-shaped handle, called a Majapahit Keris. The workshop will cover forging only; grinding and finishing of the knife will be left to the students. A picture is attached.

    He will provide all necessary materials. Most likely will be 7/8" or 1" round 5160.

The book Iron Ancestors by Theo Alkema has pictures and descriptions of the historical artifacts his design is based on. We might want to get a copy for the library. Cost of the one day workshop is an additional $125, over the cost of BSD.

• Optional Friday Potluck Dinner - May 17, 2024 - 5:30 p.m.

• Breakfast, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and lunch, noon to 1 p.m., included each day for registered guests.

• Iron-in-the-Hat drawings

• Saturday and Sunday; drawing at noon; donation of blacksmith related items encouraged.

• Forging contests: Judging is Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Items to bring to enter the contests are a Human Form Forged sculpture. Minor welding is allowed for assembly, but the object should be substantially forged. (look back here as details become available). Items must have been forged sometime after the Blacksmith Days 2024 event.

Mixed media botanical competition.

Entries must incorporate the following:

* Iron or steel and at least one other material (copper, aluminum, glass, wood, stone, etc.)

* Botanical theme (flowers, leaves, trees, garden, etc.)

* Incorporate traditional joinery (rivets, collars, wrapping, tennons, forge welding, etc.)

Scoring will be judges choice based on:

* Quality of execution 

* Originality 

* Difficulty and complexity 

• Live Auction (50/50 or donation to BGCM) of handmade items: Saturday at 5 p.m.

• Saturday Dinner (advanced registration) after live auction, around 6 p.m. on May 17, 2024,

• Tool and Equipment Silent Auction (20% commission): Ends Sunday at noon

• Raffle Drawing for handmade blacksmith tools in a handmade tote - tickets available at meetings or the event.
